Two rural banks in the Philippines is all set to deploy HP’s BladeSystems Infrastructure to run its core banking system.
The rural banking industry in the Philippines is undergoing considerable growth as many rural banks expand their branch networks nationwide, modernize operations, and diversify to offer new areas of products and services. To meet these growing business requirements, GM Bank and Bangko Kabayan recognized they needed new technology to support a variety of workloads. At the same time, it needed to be cost-efficient and easy to manage.
The HP-Encash banking solution will contain the banks’ customer savings accounts information and automate the management of passbook and ATM transactions of these accounts. With a better overview of customer information and the transactions that take place, the banks will be able to address any client requests efficiently and improve customer service.
“The implementation of the HP-Encash solution in our bank consolidates information on a single IT infrastructure, removing the complexity of managing disparate IT silos,” said Ramon D. de Ocampo, Senior Vice President for Operations, GM Bank. “The HP blade servers will allow us to provide unprecedented reliability in our services at a lower total cost of ownership.”
“We will have better visibility of transactions such as deposits and withdrawals across multiple branches. This will help us achieve a greater level of customer satisfaction and be well-positioned to address the changing demands of our business today and in the future,” said Attorney Francis S. Ganzon, President of Bangko Kabayan.
Both banks will use the HP BladeSystem c3000 which is tailored for small sites, branch offices and remote locations. It accommodates up to eight blades and utilises HP’s Thermal Logic to run efficiently leading to reduced energy costs. In addition, the banks will benefit from HP Insight Control Management Software which lets them manage the systems dynamically from a single pane of glass.
“GM Bank and Bangko Kabayan are innovating to tap the growing opportunities in the rural banking space. This means they need to adapt to change rapidly,” said Ryan Guadalquiver, Managing Director of HP Philippines. “With HP BladeSystems using HP Insight Control, the banks will be able to quickly and easily adjust their IT environments to support the business.”
