SingTel customer data locked and secured by HP

With the surge of mobile applications and social networking sites, telecommunication networks are now more vulnerable to threats than ever. In order to combat this, SingTel has chosen to partner with HP Networking to protect its customer data from Web-based attacks and other threats.
According to recent research from HP, the growing use of web-based applications and social networking sites in the enterprise have exposed networks to security threats. Web browsers and web client applications are often the main entry point for attackers to gain access to a network. These new threats endanger business confidentiality, integrity and availability.
To combat these threats, SingTel, the largest telecommunications operator in Singapore, now offers HP TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) as part of its managed security services for mid-market and enterprise customers. The solution protects businesses from internal and external attacks, unauthorized access and leakage of confidential data. IPS uses a hardware-based intrusion prevention platform to defend VoIP infrastructure, routers, switches and other critical components from attacks.
“SingTel’s customers rely on us to thwart malicious attacks and safeguard their critical data so they can focus on running their businesses,” said Goh Boon Huat, Head, Business Product, SingTel. “HP TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention Systems coupled with SingTel’s state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre ensures protection against network security risks. With clear mitigation reports, we are able to demonstrate that we are protecting networks from thousands of threats each day and that inspires customer confidence."
An integral part of the IPS solution is the unique Digital Vaccine® service, developed by DVLabs, a research organization focused on vulnerability analysis and discovery. The Digital Vaccine delivers comprehensive security filters designed to pinpoint the source of an attack – from the simplest to the most complex – without compromising network performance.
“Faced with a barrage of security threats, organizations have a critical need to safeguard their networks,” said Daniel Lee, general manager, HP TippingPoint Group, Asia Pacific and Japan. “With the HP TippingPoint IPS and Digital Vaccine service, SingTel customers get the benefit of up-to-date security protection that helps thwart damaging attacks aimed at the network.”
