RFID technology is still in its early infancy. GS1 Hong Kong chief executive, Anna Lin, believes that the Hong Kong Government needs to play an important role in the promotion of this technology among potential users as well as the ecosystem of suppliers/vendors that would support the user community. According to Ms. Lin, the SAR Government has been working with standards bodies like GS1 to educate the market and provide seed funding to help kickstart industry adoption of RFID.

Ms Lin further discusses some of the major challenges that consumers of RFID technology face and the role that the government will role in ensuring faster adoption.
